The Saturna Lodge has been called the best little hotel on the Southern Gulf Islands. It is without question the best hotel on Saturna Island given there are no others. It’s a stretch to call the Lodge a hotel but we offer all the services we can to make a stay on the Island wonderful.

Tex and I did not buy the Lodge with plans to become hoteliers. The very short story of our relationship with the Lodge goes like this. Buying the Lodge was a COVID decision. With friends we thought it would become their home and a weekend retreat for our family. We didn’t think it through. After ten months we agreed to buy out the other half. The first ten months had convinced us that the Lodge was not a house. Or a weekend getaway. It was a Lodge.  It had ten bathrooms, all with toilets that needed to be replaced. That settled it. We agreed to let the Lodge be what it was meant to be and that we would take care of it.

After cleaning and cleaning and painting and painting and fixing and fixing we opened it up for guests.

And here we are. Unlikely hoteliers. The Lodge is not just a B&B although you can come for a room and breakfast. It is also a venue where musicians, story tellers, authors and speakers join the community for cultural and educational events. It hosts retreats, workshops, family reunions, annual general meetings and any other small gathering that needs a unique and accommodating space. It hosts Taco Tuesdays on the deck. Mark Roche brings his mobile kitchen, and dinner is served, outside, during the summer. And fish and chips on Mondays.

The Lodge is happily doing what it does best…welcoming guests and providing a warm, quiet, inviting place to have a memorable Saturna experience.
